I’m so sorry to hear that. Any & all surgery has it’s risks.
How did you do?
I’m sorry it took so long for me to respond. Thank you so much-I am feeling MUCH better now. Sometimes the bone just doesn’t fuse. Once they fixed it I had used a device to stimulate the bone growth. Personally I think someone screwed up but they are only human and I came to them a complete mess so I really can’t complain or sue LOL
Thanks again for your comment. I certainly hope yours went/goes well.
i have discectomy and cadaver fusion of c6 and c7 next week, very scared
I am having this done. the Doctors (who specialize in this and having done this “countless times”) are very positive about the procedure. You had difficulty with the fusion? That is horrible. Have they explained why? I do hope you are better now!
I underwent surgery for two protruding disks, and now suffer from hypothyroidism. I know that my thyroid was injured during the procedure. When you watch videos and see the trauma caused from an anterior cervical fusion, you understand how easy it is to suffer from Post-Traumatic Thyroid Injury. I will be on Synthroid the rest of my life.
I do hope everything turns out well for your son. He will need to be VERY careful going forward. Even though he may feel great he need to remember that this type of injury can lead to further problems with other disks…especially if they remove one. I have had 3 disks all in a row removed during the past 5 years. I feel pretty good and staying active but I know what I can and can not do. Keep me posted and let me know how he is doing. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
My son just turned 23 on the 11th of Jan. He was playing football last night and fracture c7 and 6 has slipped. He just got out of surg. and is still in recovery. I’m trying desperately to understand.
I can relate…it’s definitely not fun. Just make sure you have a good surgeon before making any decisions.
I’m curious too…mine are C4-5 and 5-6, can’t do hardly anything with my arms anymore…
